Dear Sir/mdm,
I was taking my family for holiday in Strasbourg during this Christmas season. On the 22nd of December 2019 I was walking outside Strasbourg train station. It was cold and windy while I happen to pass by your hotel. Since I'm an accor member, I thought why not bring my family to have some wine at the bar since my 3 years old are also tired of walking.
I wasn't staying with Mercure this trip, but I do know that as an accor plus member we do enjoy some special benefits in any of your property worldwide. However I've been told by your front desk that the minibar only serve drinks to those who stay with the hotel only and my accor plus membership is not valid in this hotel. With all due respect, I found your front desk staff very rude and unprofessional. I felt mistreated and discriminated, was it because I'm an Asian and I don't speak French? Before I escalate to the next level, can you confirm that this is the policy of the hotel? Is this how you treat your regular member?
The hotel is near the train station so that is practical. It has a nice hall and interior, although I can't say the same thing for the room. It was old and funky. Nice service.
The hotel is in a really good place for. The train station and the rest of the town, the outside of it is older but inside they've managed to modernise it without losing the character. Reception area is comfortable and the staff are friendly. The rooms are a good size with a nice bathroom and windows that open fully. Bed is big and comfortable though maybe ask for extra pillows. The only fault was that the room was boiling as heating was all the way up, but once turned off and with window open it soon cooled down. Breakfast is nice, nothing particularly amazing but the food is good enough and the croissants and cheese are what you would expect in France. I would definitely stay here again for convenience and comfort.
Paid for a 4 star hotel, ended up in a old 3 star....
Rooms are very old, small, and both smelled very weird. The bathroom is almost impossible to use.
The staff at the reception is ok despite cracking very dirty jokes... The breakfast is sub par, the pre baked bread is totally soft, almost no fruits, the eggs can't be boiled as the water isn't warm enough. I ordered a Sunnyside up and received 3 scrambled eggs, and got insulted by the staff because I told her that wasn't my order. The location next to the train station might be convenient to take an early train but this area is filled with very weird people
Lovely room and we were just across the large square from the station. Great city to walk around too, or take a canal trip as we did.
