Great place to work on your computer. Most of the people there are friendly and helpful. Get the Cowork Tahoe App to join and unlock the doors to get in. Temp membership for 10 days a month or full time membership. Full kitchen, Snack & drinks are part of the membership. They also have a shower for people on the road.
I rented a desk for 3 working days during my trip to Tahoe. It was everything a software engineer needs - fast WiFi, good desk, good chair. I really enjoyed working there. Also I was able to easily book conference room for my teleconferences. While there are two things I would improve (1. there were two kinds of chairs, one good enough comfortable, one super comfortable, why not have only super comfortable ones? 2. conference room sound insulation was not great, I could hear people walking by so they could hear me too), I will for sure come back to this place if I need to work from Tahoe again.
Excellent place with a great setup. Meeting rooms, kitchen, common areas and great staff. Can't wait to visit again.
1. Loved it at first, spacious, professional, shiny on the outside.
2. Found some nice friends, acquaintances and even clients.
3. Needed my own office given 23 years of entrepreneurship apparently (waiting list is long, maybe 2 years).
4. Deemed it “the place to be” around town with many important meetings happening there.
5. Seemed a wee shallow and out-of-touch (which town visitors and office owners will not care about so much) —- I overheard one owner say “keep out the riff-raff” once. Given where the building is located there was constant tension to the effect.
Why review? Who cares? I spent 6 months at an open desk and I thought I loved it on so many levels until I had my “freedom” again.
If you are creative, different and looking for a collaborative co-working space, this is not for you.
No offense, it was “cutting edge” 3 years ago. There is room in this market for true creatives that understand real conversation leads to billion dollar outcomes.
Would only recommend open desks for short term visits, employees or those immune to micromanagement coupled with the arbitrary service of burned-out owners and their untrained interns.
Weekends and evenings — dishes pile up and it’s 6 degrees cooler (freezing) or hotter (stuffy) depending on the season.
When I came, I was clear I was working with Australia, late hours, weekends and needed to be wired in and focused, yet was consistently interrupted by one male owner (creepy, sorry) like I wasn’t at work at 10:30 PM, though I was there with office holders left to their own devices.
I’m also creative so I spent long hours studying media with headphones, taking notes, writing (also pre-disclosed) which was seen as “hanging out” not working. I guess if you don’t use examples from media in your work, it looks like marathon streaming for nothing.
Yes, every move was analyzed. I’d get these random emails about my “habits” out of the blue, which amounted to being stalked by their Kisi app. Would this have happened if I were male or married? I wonder. I’m not a big activist. Just a little too vulnerable for my own good without a gatekeeper.
For six months I did my best to ignore the privacy and personal space intrusions which never did end. I’m still catching up on my project not realizing how much I needed peace.
Their open desk agreement requires a non-disclosure, to never disparage owners, “no promise of quiet enjoyment,” no rights to the member.
I had fun having co-workers around. However, I found myself providing free services often, while be criticized for getting to know people by those who don’t network unless their boss assigns it. Boring.
Whatever you do, don’t wear out your welcome which will be short-lived if you stand out in the “wrong way.” Otherwise, great place compared to most.
Another option, a new kind of collaboration could be amazing building on lessons learned here and from we-work.
The perfect space for anything your business needs!
