I booked three nights here and I only wound up staying two. It is very deceiving on booking it says it's a hotel when it's clearly a hostel. I booked a private room but I didn't realize the room didn't have a bathroom. So we had to share a bathroom with the hostel people, but the bathroom didn't have a toilet seat so I wound up just using the toilet on the bottom floor that the people who use the pool use. How am I supposed to use a toilet without a toilet seat? The room was ridiculously small. Seriously just big enough for the bed. It is not meant for two people in there. My friend is sensitive to mold and her curtains in her room were covered in mold so we had to leave early. Other than that, it was a great location, the staff was friendly, and the bar and restaurant they had was good and cheap. The pool was very nice but it wasn't heated. The Lagoon had crocodiles in it so you can't really go in it because you will get eaten. If I was aware that this place was the hostel, I wouldn't have been so upset. On the level of hostels it is pretty nice. They also have the nicest free breakfast I've ever seen at a hostel.
Stayed one night in the single bedroom. The facility design is nice and they offer activities to meet people each day. Price for the single bedroom was a steep but hostel stay is very affordable.
We booked a room in Selina through Hotels.com but when we got there, the room was nothing like in the pictures. It was tiny (literally, there was only a bed and no room for anything else) and it had no toilet. I understand it was our mistake for trusting the pics and probably missing some small print somewhere but then I read some reviews that the same had happened to other guests too, so it kind of makes me think that misleading is intentional. We ended up paying for an upgrade, the first option shown to us had a very strong smell of moist but the second was fine, it even had a nice view and was very silent. The people in the reception were friendly. The installations are quite nice (although maybe a bit out of shape) but next time we will choose another option.
Originally stayed at the Hostel and quickly learned that was a mistake. But once I got a room I really enjoyed my stay. It's definitely a more affordable option which still gives you a nice resort feel. I would definitely stay again.
Initially I would want to give at least two stars however the discrimination, lack of communication, lies, as well as poor customer service from several employees leads me to one star and that’s generous. Some voices aren’t heard and as a person of color this doesn’t change from place to place. Being privileged, white, or a native, Mexican, will surely bring about a different experience. However this does not mean I didn’t enjoy myself. Despite the usual(unfortunately true) negative experiences, I engaged in meditation, yoga and utilized the faculty to cultivate a healing place for me. Unfortunately with these types of influences present the process was/is delayed. But like blacks have been forced to do all our lives, we Overcome.
