Lovely location and room was pleasant enough.
Drinking water is only sold in 500ml bottles for 40 pesos... what a water of plastic. You get 3 litres for 40 pesos from the shop 2 blocks away. There is a single 20L bottle of water in the kitchen but it is gone by 9am and there’s no dispenser so it’s difficult to pour. Free or reasonably priced drinking water should not be a luxury.
The music is also incredibly annoying. 8 tracks of easy listening played on repeat all day every day, then at night you get generic pounding techno until about 10.30pm, so no one sits in the bar because it’s too loud.
Want to use a desk to work? That’ll be another 250 pesos.
Loved my stay here! Wonderful pool, kitchen and common areas. Comfortable bed and good AC. Great location right on the beach and near all the main restaurants and bars. Really wished I could have spent more days there.
BIG changes from the old Poc Na. It's designed for mid-30s digital nomads, not gap year party backpackers. No more volleyball, volunteers or crazy bar. The uniqueness of Poc Na is no more. It's still a nice Selina though.
Be prepared: if you book this place through Booking.com or their website, you have to make changes to your reservation through their online service only, the front desk only handles payment. If you want to change anything, it will take them hours to respond to you and make the changes. You might also have multiple bookings for just one reservation. Also know - the final price will likely be double or triple what was quoted on Booking.com (through local "fees and taxes"). Might as well stay at a fancy hotel since this place will cost pretty much what those other places cost if you stay in anything other than the dorms. There was also a weird smell in my room that followed me all the way back to the US. I had to wash and scrub everything, even though it had already been laundered.
A beautiful hostel but the service is terrible. The staff is not so welcoming and they don't try to help. They gave us beds that were not clean. Their system is so bad that you have to wait for a long time to check in. Finally after staying a night we decided to take our money back and go to another place.
The common areas are beautiful and well kept. The pool area feels like a hotel with a clean pool, hammocks, and lounge bags. It has sand around it which makes it feel like you’re at a beach.
There is free drinkable water available in the kitchen but it doesn’t have a dispenser so you may need help to pour it out.
The staff weren’t very helpful with information about the island. We had both the day and evening receptionists and neither could answer questions we had about the buses nor restaurants in the area.
They charge a wellness fee that’s mandatory but they didn’t offer any classes while I stayed there so it’s felt like a scam. They also charge fees for borrowing a shower and beach towel whereas most places just ask for a deposit.
