Reviews from visitors:
Staff is outstanding. Hotel is fine for the price. But yes it's totally opposite to santa Lucia. Station and u need to walk from there crossing over the bridge and coming to this end. If you have lots of luggage think about it. Otherwise it's a good local place, staff is fine. Breakfast is bread and basket.. we were on long tour so the local kind of support from this hotel helped us getting dry cleaning done.. with in budget decent place to stay...gives u good feel of Venice.
The Hotel Gardena was absolutely great. We slept like babies, got a free upgraded room and enjoyed our stay. The room was large, comfortable and clean with two windows that opened to a view of the canal below. The staff at reception were very friendly. The bathroom was massive and well equipped. As for location, this hotel is in a perfect spot, especially if you’re just staying for a night before a cruise. It’s just a five-minute walk from the train station to the hotel and five minutes to the people mover to the cruise terminal. Overall, we were exceptionally pleased with our selection of this hotel and would highly recommend it.
This was the first part of our Honeymoon in Italy. We stayed at Hotel Gardenia for 4 nights Oct 13-Oct 17, 2019. I am in Customer Service and treat all my customers like family members. I strive to give the most personal individualized service with every communication so I have high expectations and am not easily impressed by just the way a place looks, I am all about how it runs and how I am treated as the guest.
Hotel Gardenia and its professional, yet very warm and personable staff did not disappoint, in fact they not only met my expectations, they far exceeded. Like any of you reading this, I too was looking for just that perfect place to stay in Venice and Hotel Gardenia is truly a great choice, I highly recommend.
Location: Central to everything you want and need: the train station is right across the canal, so is the Vaporetto station and a main hub for all lines. Piazzelle Roma is an 8 min walk. You can walk everywhere from here (we did) but it is Venice and you also want to use the Vaporetto to get around - it is best to get a multi-day pass you will see Venice from the water which is such an exciting treat (don't waste your money on the Gondola - it is not your grandmothers gondola ride of the past, not worth it at all)
The Hotel: We had a wonderful room #304 with an incredible view of the canal right in front of the hotel as well as the Grand Canal. Lots to see and watch and hear! Yet when you close the windows it is blissfully quiet. There was a delicious bottle of Prosecco waiting for us when we arrived. The bed was good size and extremely comfortable! Bathroom was great and had no issues with shower. There is a mini fridge in the room so when you are out during the days you can grab some water and treats and keep them cold for when you return in the evening. There is 24hr front desk, so always felt safe and comfortable at any time. I am not a breakfast person, but my husband is and the buffet they put out was not only ample and lovely to look at, it was yummy!
SERVICE: Alessandro and Peter, I cannot thank you enough for your hospitatlity, it was the two of you that truly made our stay here wonderful and memorable! You are both so professional and yet so personal and funny! We felt very cared for and wanted others to know that when they book here at your beautiful "House" they are in the best of hands! Your tips, advice, general knowledge of Venice was invaluable to us and the water taxi ride out to Murano to have a personal guide give us a tour of a glass-making factory was incredibly special!
VALUE: This is by far, one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in - not so expensive, not too inexpensive - just perfect and worth every penny.
Do not even hesitate to stay here, you will not be disappointed, I dealt directly with the hotel, Alessandro and was able to communicate what I wanted to make sure the room would be for us - from that very first email communication, Alessandro was extremely communicative and helpful and it was what sealed the deal for me. I have read other horrible reviews and will say please consider the person that is writing those reviews, if you are a good person, well mannered you will have no problem anywhere in the world. Additionally, you must do some research and talk to a hotel to make sure you can get what you want. Dont book a "Basic" room in Italy and expect 5 star ammenities, it does not work that way. Look at photos, talk with the hotel and get the most room you can afford, it is worth it. Thank you for reading my lengthy review, great service deserves the praise and Hotel Gardenia is just one of the greats! Laura and Ken Cahill
Just checked in, neat and pretty room but the main attraction was definitely Alberto. Won me over in five seconds... help set up a birthday dinner for my girlfriend while providing with a complimentary bottle of sparkling for her as well. Suggested a good (and bad) restaurant near by and also seemed genuine is expressing that the gondola rides are overpriced and not recommended. Overall a stand up guy! Looking forward to Venice even more now.
Near the train station. Room is nice, service is good. Very happy with the hotel!
