Great working space. What makes this place great is that Tom, the owner, speaks English well and is very helpful and friendly. I like to drop in and work here every now and then. Highly recommend it.
Maybe the best coworking space in Tokyo. I've tried several others and once I found Open Source Cafe never needed to bother finding another.
- Amazing community. Everyone from staff to monthly members are friendly. It's true there's no food on the menu, only drinks, but you can bring in food if you like and many people bring in snacks and leave them for others to take for free if they want.
- Three rooms: the cafe where you can chat and socialize while you work, the library which is stocked floor to ceiling with useful reference materials for quiet work and reading, and a workshop with tools and supplies for making just about anything you can imagine.
- Tucked away in Shimokitazawa, literally considered one of the coolest neighborhoods in the world (really, Google it).
- Prices are more than reasonable. They have a daily rate (about ¥1000), a 5-day rate I can't recall, and a monthly membership that is a little over ¥10000 and for which you get 24 hour access, even when the place is closed!
Incredible. I love this place so much and never fail to visit when I'm working from or visiting Tokyo.
The owner, Tom is very friendly and an open source enthusiast. Would recommend it for a productive time. You can get your own snacks and drinks but the nearest conbini is a bit far away and there aren't any other cafes nearby.
Great coworking space. All the tools, all the books. Nice neighbourhood to boot.
Quiet, clean, good for getting some work done. No food.
