Reviews from visitors:
Great place nearby main station
Very beautiful and finally well-kept historic building near the main railway and bus station. A gem of architecture
Although the history of the Town Hall building dates back to the second half of the 19th century, its today's appearance is the result of its reconstruction. Like most buildings, this one was destroyed (set on fire) during World War II. Carefully rebuilt in the years 1953-1963, it is now the seat of numerous state institutions
This town hall is for Szczecin what the Notre Dam cathedral is for Paris. PS. It burned down in 45, and after reconstruction it is the seat of maritime institutions.
The Red Town Hall is located on pl. Batory 4. The cornerstone for the construction was laid on September 2, 1875, and works were completed on January 10, 1879.
The entrance was decorated with an arcaded portico. Allegories of Industry, Agriculture, Knowledge and Sailing were placed in the niches above the pillars. These are the areas in which the economic power of Szczecin grew. The building was the seat of the city authorities until 1945, when it was set on fire. It was not rebuilt until the 1960s.
