They made our vacation perfect. An accidental mistake in booking was quickly remedied. We will DEFINITELY be using them again and potentially buying real estate based on our experience.
Townhouse at 112 E. Cora: There was several things that we were not too happy. First it smelled moldy. The layout of the townhouse was you had to go through the garage to go to the pool. The landscaping needed edging. There was no broom to sweep and the pool has no light. When we got back from the beach the pool was extremely hot that it was unpleasant to swim. I read the folder Frank Rentals provided but no info found regarding pool. I looked around the pool to see if there was a switch and I found a light switch, I turned the light switch off hoping that was the issue. I called Frank Rentals and promised they were going to send the pool guy to address the problem. We stayed at the townhouse to wait and no one showed up. The pool also shuts off at 7pm, I am not a pool expert but I think that is the reason is hotter than it suppose to be. Also they have a problem with roaches. We had left some food on the stove and we saw a roach inside the our pan. The location is good but I think the townhouse needs attention. This rating is regarding the rental not the staff or the agency. P.S. I never write reviews but I felt I had to this time.
We stayed at the Portofino Condo at The Shores in South Padre Island, TX in July 2020. The condo has a superb location and the Shores is a lovely neighborhood. However, the condo has a long list of issues and needs significant repairs.
- Dryer was broken but replaced on the 4th day of our stay. Would have been nice to know about this beforehand so that we could of planned around it.
- New construction next door to house that is not shown in current website pictures. Construction noise started at 7:30am each morning and this is not compatible with a pleasant vacation.
- All shutters on second floor have been removed and construction workers can be seen all day long 10 feet away through windows. This significantly degrades privacy in the house.
- Multiple cabinet doors through house were broken and off hinges. Several were fixed after we mentioned the problem during our stay. Maintenance person told us that new hinges need to be ordered due to rust.
- Condensation leakage from air conditioner in garage made it difficult to park underneath as the water was dripping onto the car. Ceiling has been removed where leak is and mold is already forming on those beams.
- Black mold is deteriorating the baseboards in master bedroom and we were concerned on possible health issues as a result.
- Mold is forming through the paint on the cabinets in the inside of the cabinets in master bedroom.
- 2nd floor bathroom has strong smell of sewer gas from shower drain. Had to close door as much as possible to keep smell from permeating the rest of the house.
- No coffee maker just an older french press and dirty coffee grinder.
- Dishwasher on last legs. Struggling to clean dishes so had to rewash much of the dishes. No dishwasher soap provided.
- Pots and pans in bad shape. Pans missing handles and several pans had not been cleaned and were caked with old grease. Really disgusting.
- Kitchen has a mish-mash of utensils. Should be replaced and upgraded.
- Water filter underneath kitchen sink expired in 2018 and has not been replaced. Used bottled water instead.
- 2nd floor bedroom nightstand lamps were inoperative. One was completely broken with lightbulb hanging by exposed wires. The other lamp turned on but started smoking and smelled like burnt wires.
- 2nd floor bedroom fan light would not work unless fan was on. With broken nightstand lights, the only light in the room could only be operated with the fan on.
- 3rd floor master bedroom door to balcony was frozen shut due to corroded lock mechanism. So, no ability to enjoy beach view from 3rd floor.
- All beds were very hard and uncomfortable. Franke should consider replacing since this is mentioned many times on online reviews.
- Door to washing machine is off the hinges and inoperative. Assume this was to replace the dryer but the dryer doors were still on. This made doing laundry very loud.
- New furniture in living room so that is better than it looked on website pictures. However, there was a large chocolate stain on the couch when we got there. We were able to remove it but it was gross.
- TV in main living room is damaged and has a line down the center of the screen. Annoying.
- Wifi worked but was a it slow. Does not reach the 3rd floor however.
- Outdoor grill is significantly rusted and not very clean. Opted not to use it as we did not want to have to clean it.
- New hot tub so that is good. However, it is very exposed with construction workers watching you on one side and folks crossing the beach walk on the other side. Could use some more privacy.
- Yard was well kept.
This has to be the most isolated part of beach in SPI. Franke was responsive on a few items but we didn't want the repair people in the condo for our entire stay. It was enough to have them in for the dryer replacement and cabinet fixes. I did send this review to Franke Realtors and they indicated that Kevin Franke would get back to us about the comments. However, we never received a response back.
Tasty! Good fries too! Wish I had ordered my own fries instead of sharing what they considered a large... not large enough to truly share with a fries lover like me & my son!
Best place to go on vacation and stay. Highly recommend this location while on your vacation. Great people, very nice service. Your missing out if you don't t stay there. So beautiful.
