Reviews from visitors:
This VVF is not badly criticized but frankly we had one of the best stays, and the problem is that this site is a paradox in itself. Located on the side of the mountain - slightly out of the city center, it is true that it is steep but we must not forget that we are in the mountains! Then the very old buildings whose owners are the town of Saint-Lary-Soulan! So if you want to complain, go see the Mayor ... The site has been profitable for many years but little investment is devoted to it ... too bad. The Town Hall did try to build a swimming pool, but geology won the game. And St Lary is full of swimming pools and aquatic centers why not invest this money in improving the apartments ?!
The first impression is very bad when you enter the apartments - narrowness of the place - 3 levels - narrow stairs - very little storage - kitchen space lower than the window: feeling of being in prison. I think these apartments are suitable for old submariners. We don't feel good. When we open the window because of the heat we have the unpleasant lifts from the asphalt roof - we just want to go home! To flee this place so sad and depressing. The view over the valley is really "nothing more" but it has the merit of existing. We go to reception and ask for another apartment (those located at the bottom left) - request accepted - bigger apartment we breathe! The reception was conciliatory and understanding: good point. Sound insulation is non-existent, it's a shame !!! What is the town hall doing! Welcome to St Lary ... soulan (soulan yes indeed!)
Stay in summer ... I can't even imagine the physical galley in winter with snow, ice, risk of falls - the ski gear that clutters the entrance to each apartment. In short ... good luck.
(catering: not tested because half board)
But (because there is a but) ...
The team of this VVF to identify the negative points and to work on the rest: YOU UNDERSTOOD EVERYTHING! A kind, smart and funny open manager - super energetic animators who set the mood like never before in a very simple and respectful way. Passionate - sensitive - benevolent guides! Well done to everyone.
The hikes are wonderful on the French side (Néouvielle: paradisiac) and it's not bad on the Spanish side too, but too far.
The large city center is also very pleasant and easily accessible on foot.
The cable car is an experience to be lived. The Vignécoise farm to do also. A whole bunch of activity is available and that's great.
In short: a trip that started off very badly - and turned out to be a great unforgettable experience! Appearances are deceptive because of the Municipality and not of VVF. The people there are "cool" "no fuss" it feels good.
I recommend: yes in summer - in winter Loudenvielle station.
Hotel / club as described. The welcome was good and the rooms clean.
An extra VVF. Welcoming team and everything was available as agreed (packages ordered with the VVF, half board)
The meals are plentiful and excellent. It's very user-friendly. It is possible to request a picnic to eat on the slopes. The apartments are decent and everything you need is available for cooking. The bedding is comfortable and the whole is clean.
To access the ski area, just take a free shuttle 200m from the VVF which runs every 20 minutes and takes you to the cable cars.
In short, we have nothing to think about ... just to ski!
Nice place, functional accommodation with a nice view. Reasonable price
VVF village obsolete even for a summer stay.
Admittedly, beautiful view in peace far from the city center and placed in a tourist sector of quality.
Half-board remains correct for the price in August.
The problem is that this VVF village must be 40 years old, and that has become obsolete nowadays.
We have more space in a motorhome in 2020!
Already in summer it's complicated, I dare not imagine in winter!
The accommodations are from another age, that time when we were content with 6 m2 for an adult bedroom, ultra steep stairs and narrow opening (window).
Rented for 2 weeks, the lack of space and the design on 3 level of housing is no longer acceptable in 2020 especially at this price!
Village from another time, obsolete nowadays.
