Reviews from visitors:
The section of the traffic police of Otranto is the representation of the worst kind of administration, the one made up of half-things to make cash during the summer by placing real tourist traps and you find yourself with a nice fine to pay without even understanding why.
Alimini Lakes, I try to park the car in the private parking of a beach (I always look for a paid parking lot to avoid problems), I think it's called "Coco bay" or something similar. There is no place and the parking attendant says "now I'm sending you to a friend of mine, go back a little and enter the pine forest and follow the signs for Lido Sirena".
At the entrance to the pine forest, two civil protection officers with an orange jacket beckon me to enter, I stop and ask for directions to Lido Sirena and without batting an eye the two employees show me the way.
The interior of the pine forest looks like a parking lot with hundreds of cars already parked and others looking for a place.
As a result of luck, I find a place in a row of cars already parked.
After the day at the beach at the exit I am surprised to find a fine on the windshield !!!
I look around and in ALL the pine forest and at the entrance to the beach there is NO sign.
I also try to understand why in a row of 10 cars only mine and maybe a couple more have the police report ... Nothing, there is no indication.
A girl then tells me "the pine forest is considered a protected area, you need a special permit even just to enter"
THEN what I DON'T UNDERSTAND is why the two entrance attendants don't stop you and instead invite you to enter?
Why is there no sign in the entire pine forest?
Once out of this damned pine forest, looking more carefully, I see on the entrance gate a small sign half broken and partially covered by foliage with an indication of the access prohibition, strategically placed at the bottom almost at asphalt level in order to minimize the possibility to be seen.
Moral of the story, for someone like me who is always extremely careful to park correctly, I felt the victim of a criminal association aimed at pseudo-legal extortion of money from this municipality in which I will never set foot again.
Shameful are the fines of prohibition of "parking despite prohibition of stopping" given this afternoon 12.08.2020 in Vicinale Diego Morrone given the missing signs on the road in the direction of travel. Convenient to make cash so at the expense of tourists .... Congratulations! At least integrate and fix the signs with the money collected, give ...
For a parking ban, moreover, with a lack of signage, I found myself paying a 50 euro fine and after a year I get a notice at home urging me to pay .. if I did not have the receipt, I had to pay again .. nice to get the money on my shoulders the others .. from Southern understand because then everyone speaks evil of the South even with tourists .. you know we do
The Municipal Police of Otranto is a criminal gang! Soon I will go and visit them in person.
A shame!!! I pass under the ztl that says: GATE NOT ACTIVE, I receive a fine of more than 70 euros.
