This review continues from my review in Ventimiglia station in Italy. First of all i would like to remark on the outstandingly impressive number of tunnels this train from Genoa to Nice goes thru: the mountains are made of soft Stone called limestone, which is also quite sturdy even after drilling into it. We must have passed truth at least 15-20 tunnels!
So this is the point the French border police come inside the carriages and inspect most of the people's identification and authorisation to enter France. I saw them catch a boy of not 25, from under the seat. Everyone could see him, he was hiding so plainly! People are so used to seeing this, they don't bat am eye. As for the stow aways i think the police just send them back over the border without charges.
Simple small station. Just beware that the train always stops for at least 5 minutes until the French authorities have cleansweeped every single train for illegal immigrants coming from Italy.
