The new refreshed basement floor Kyoto museum of craft and design is just a pure design and art gold to discover. Highly recommended for anyone interested in Japanese (and especially Kyoto) craft and design field!
Great place, on weekend it has opening market or other events.
Had a great time at the Japanese Folk Art exhibit. Traditional clothing, swords, shoes, fans, jewelry, dishware, etc. Completely devoid of the usual crowds at every venue everywhere in Japan. The shop is a great place to buy souvenirs.
A big event hall which have some permanent exhibitions running
This is within the center of many different buildings but most notably the Kyoto train station is here where you can catch a train it bus to just about anywhere in Japan. It is very clean and relatively easy to navigate, even those that don't speak Japanese. Plenty of help for English speaking tourists and plenty of little stores, shops, and restaurants to keep just about anyone occupied for a while.
