Reviews from visitors:
Friendly staff, beautiful plants everywhere, relaxing pool and roof terrace. Got great suggestions for things to do in Lisbon. Location was good and price was very reasonable. Comfortable bed and not too loud.
Only negative things were that we had to move rooms for no apparent reason during our stay and our first room had no toilet brush. Also the floor in the room was just a little bit sticky.
We booked a suite and stayed for two nights in the Selina. The room was spacious but the bathroom - I wouldn’t call that a bathroom - was the size of coffin with a tiny light. You couldn’t hardly see anything. On top of that, the wash basin was broken and leaking water everywhere. We brushed our teeth and the floor was all covered in water. We also had a projector and a screen and “apparently” you could watch Netflix and Apple TV. There was only one remote control in the room which was for the projector but we could not find anything else. We asked all employees at the reception and no one had any idea how to make that thing work - very good service! The day we were leaving we found the Apple TV remote control under the bed. This shows these people have no standards when cleaning and arranging the rooms.
If you are offering hotel rooms to compete with nearby hotels, you should also offer the same standards that hotels offer: a bathroom with a decent size, air conditioning (THERE’S NO AIR CONDITIONING!!!!), staff that knows what they are doing and not a bunch of people that seem to be on holidays and trying to earn a bit of money to continue to their next destination, and more importantly rooms where everything works.
You are just a bunch of “aficionados”; there are family run hotels in Lisbon with probably no investors behind and hardly any funky advertising that offer great service and quality at a much lower price. Selina is a total rip off. You should ask your investors to help you learn how to run a hostel and offer a good service, I’m sure they can spend a bit of money to improve this.
I am so happy to have chosen Selina Secret Garden for two reasons : the first one is that it is a great value for money, the room was clean, bed comfortable, cool spot. The second one is because of how nice and caring they are : I had forgotten an item in the room and they were able to find it and take time to send it back to me. I would 100% go there again. THANK YOU !!!!
Beautiful, chill place with lots of young & friendly people typing away on their laptop. They have a pool! Breakfast available on order. Free tea, free coffee, good wifi. Have I mentioned the pool?
One thing I don't like is that there is no event list for prospective members to check out on the website. The Lisbon Selina website itself is hard to find. For me (new to Portugal) the events are important as they are great opportunities to make connections. That's why I gave 4 stars.
Lots of digital nomads here, so they're a little older and more mature than the usual backpacker crowd, but it created a very pleasant vibe. The big issue I had is the lack of indoor common areas - virtually all the space is outside, which is not a problem when the weather is nice. If you need to be inside, your only free option is the kitchen, or be ready to pay 12 euro per day for the cowork area.
