We have been going to Hilton Head for the past two years since we moved to Georgia as we love the beach and it's only a 4 hour drive from where we live just SW of Atlanta. We have yet to find a place that we go to every time and was hoping that the Westin would be that place. We wanted to spend Christmas at the beach so advanced booked our stay back in October via the Marriott website to what we thought was getting the best rate.
The property and its location is beautiful and driving up to the property puts you in a great mood and you already start relaxing. The lobby and pool area are well maintained and create a great first impression and resemble the first class property you would expect. The parking lot sent a different message as the garbage cans were full and overflowing the entire time we were there.
The rooms are a bit under whelming as they are outdated, our deluxe ocean front room had an amazing view but the bed comforter was torn and shredded and the chair and ottoman in the room were also heavily worn and torn. With the price you pay our expectations were a lot higher as it seems there is a lack of detail from the property management. If you looking for a great location with great views and beach access and don't care as much about the accommodations then maybe your opinion will differ.
I was sent a survey by Marriott and answered honestly as I am here and received a text book response from the hotel Executive assistant who basically said I should have brought these issues up during my stay and should have read the details of the property as it was almost my fault for the concerns I raised.
Overall it is a nice place and I have a difference of opinion when it comes to quality and customer service based on the feedback from the property. No doubt it is a great location but customer satisfaction and service should still mean something.
I used some points to put my niece and her family up here for the weekend. Place is very nice. Private beach access nice pools and bars. Having ambassador status they got them a room upgrade and even a small welcome gift for my niece’s birthday. They also made sure I had an extra parking pass so I could self park when we came over to hang out with them. It’s nice when the Marriott hotels really do give you some perks for your loyalty even if you’re not the one staying there.
Also appears to be dog friendly which is good to know the next tune if I stay here myself with the dogs.
I had a wonderful stay at the Westin. Miriam checked me in, she was extremely helpful and nice. The grounds were nice. I had an oceanfront room, and it was pretty nice. I ate at the outdoor restaurant by the pools, that was good and the bartender/server was friendly. My only complaint was the bed was hard, so I didn’t rest well during my stay. Otherwise, it was a very nice stay.
This place was AMAZING!! Celebrated my birthday with my boyfriend here and it was perfect. Our view was fabulous, especially at night under the moon. We enjoyed the restaurants on the resort. The crab cakes, shrimp and grits, warm peel and eat shrimp, and wings were great. The drinks were good too. We spent a lot of time at the pools, there were three and the set up was beautiful. The beach was a favorite. Also I received a massage from the heavenly spa which was spectacular. The staff was really nice at all places as well.
The room, the view and the beach were amazing! Our family and furry friend loved every bit of it. The heated pool and jacuzzi were perfect on a rainy day and the restaurant was delicious. What a great weekend getaway!
