An absolutely gorgeous hotel with great dining.
This is The Top in Estepona. Nowhere else can beat it for the quality of the rooms, the fabulous service, the meal experience (although it is not Spanish food but top-notch, if over-elaborate sometimes international cuisine) and the gorgeous gardens.
It is situated a 40 minute walk (along the Senda Litoral coastal path) from Estepona Old Town. Except early morning, or in winter, take a taxi instead - there are usually a couple outside the front door; if not, Reception will call one for you.
The beach is nothing to write home about, but the pools are very good, and although the Puro Beach Club in the Laguna Village, 4 minutes away, was burnt to the ground with the rest of the Village on 29 August 2020, it is all due to be rebuilt.
Meanwhile, pop into Estepona and buy beach shoes that can be worn in the water. You can get these at any "chino" - ask the taxi driver to drop you off in front of the one on the Avenida Litoral near the bus station. But remember that it's closed for lunch 2-5.
The experience at the Kempinski is first rate - I have never been disappointed here.

We had a room next to the main road - if you’re at the front of the hotel, watch out - it’s noisy, even with the patio doors closed.
The service was inconsistent. There were some nice friendly and competent staff, but some were pretty poor and looked lost. The breakfast buffet was alright, nothing amazing.
Gym was good, the hidden tennis court was really good. The general beachfront is public, but if you’re staying at the hotel for this, you would be disappointed. It’s pretty rough.
There are some really nice parts of the hotel, especially the reception area. The room we were in was ok enough, although did have a massive stain on the carpet.
It’s a good hotel but not 5 star in my view.
Comfortable. Good location with bars and restaurants close by. Food good but not cheap. Staff friendly and helpful.
We loved our stay with this hotel... we could tell everyone working there are happy with their jobs because their hospitality was really sincere. We loved the location of the hotel too. It's not in the hustle bustle but close enough if you are looking for one... the beach is also nice there (a bit rocky) and peaceful. We definitely will return to this place!!!
Fantastic venue / Art exhibition, really enjoyed it. Good vibes, personal service. Very lovely evening overall!
