Lovely city, best time to visit is winter season (Nov-Feb)

Ok. Nothing great about the place. It just the heart of the city. That's it.

It was my first place to arrive in Chiang Mai and I stayed in the Old City. It is great to be here, very interesting place, especially to live here for a while. The only downside to Chiang Mai city in general: From February to May there is a burning season. The whole city will be full of smog and it is a big health hazard. Basically impossible to stay in the whole Chiang Mai - just a warning for first time visitors.

Chiang Mai is my favorite in Thailand. Make sure you book your hotel/hostel in old city. There are lots of cafes, restaurants. Sunday market is huge! You can buy very cool stuff there. Also visit night markets. There is live music every night. I loved every moment I spent there.

Really nice atmosphere between the old wall of the city with all those temples around and that much activities you can do (and bar or restaurant you van taste)
