The hotel is nice. walking distance from the Harbour, nice area. Decent size rooms, friendly staff. I like the small minibar area with microwave included and a little sink. Breakfast is kinda poor, but that is also maybe because of COVID. It used to be better.
BUT the internet here is a disgrace! I work remotely and need internet more than anything else, but this is just a joke! I can barely get my work done! I mean, seriously... I have better results using my ROAMING Mobile Data.... This is so very annoying and it is the reason this hotel gets only 2 stars from me. I am very frustrated with the on-again / off-again and overall bad quality of the internet connection.
The staff of the Novotel hotel is very poor. Staff have acted seriously culpably for not intervening in an emergency. There has been a violation of rectified law that has put my friends and I in a life-threatening situation. There has also been a very laconic and uninterested approach to the emergency.
The situation concerns the fact that we have been sitting in an elevator of which Novotel has the key which is intended to be used in emergency situations to free people. In the elevator it was also more than 40 degrees so that there was almost no oxygen in the elevator and we became almost unwell. However, they left her and she refused to open the elevator. We have stated several times that we cannot last long, and despite the fact that no action has been taken.
They then said they cannot find the key and the reason for the elevator not opening was. This is a weak excuse and also reproach because the staff apparently do not know the protocol and regulations in an emergency.
I do not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel or be involved with the hotel in any other way. In an emergency, staff literally let you choke.
My positive point is that there was a young man on staff who eventually used the key to open the elevator. Then the female manager of Novotel taps the young man who has acted excellently and as it should be in society. In short, do not book a stay if you are sensible.
We have been treated very badly at this hotel. An aggressive female manager, with dark hair and slender posture, works there. We have video footage of her screaming and threatening. very unfriendly and we will never go back here!
The room it's too dirty. No more novotel.
Very disappointed with our experience at this hotel. Certainly does not live up to the Novotel brand promise.
The covid adaptation of the breakfast is completely lacking in value. Expect a cereal station, some yogurts and a few options for spreads. You rely on staff to hand you some random bread and croissants in a bag.
Pros:
+ Large spacious rooms with a well thought out design. The ship theme of the bathrooms was really unique;
+ Appreciated the covid measures regarding bed sheets and mattress protection;
+ Good location
+ Cleanliness seems ok
Cons:
- Really bad, pungent smell on the hallways (probably caused by damp). You dont spend much time in the hallway but it definitely stays with you;
- 8 floor property of 20ish rooms each, served by one single lift. In the context of covid and one family per trip, the lift is completely worthless and the source of much conflict between guests;
- very soft matress which made for nights of uncomfortable sleep for us. Definitely not what you want in your vacation;
- breakfast is lacking value, as mentioned. Add that the "breakfast" area only has capacity of 50ish people sitting at unsafe distance from one another;
Staff is rather cold but to be fair they seem to be completely over stretched. We cant blame them, the reception area is a merry go round of disgruntled customers.
Overall this seems like a property where the owners optimised for revenue at the expense of amenities, customers comfort and staff. Certainly not what you want from a hotel where you go to spend your vacation. Would not recommend nor return.
