I had come across Mandy's work on social media a while back and had bookmarked Glass House, with hope of having some beautiful work of art in my house at some point. Then this summer my father passed away. When discussing with my mom and my brother what we wanted to do with his ashes, I remembered her work with memorial glass - and we all thought it was the perfect way for us to member him. We had 3 orbs done, one for each of us, using multiple shades of blue. It looks like his ashes are floating among the waves - an ode to his love of the ocean and walking on the beach. Now each one of us has something beautiful to remember him by, each a little unique from each other, but connected. Way better than placing an urn in the house. Every time I look at it on my shelf I smile and remember him. Working with Mandy has been absolutely wonderful from beginning to end. She has been an excellent communicator - taking the time to follow up with phone calls after placing orders online, just to ensure everything was as we wanted. We would highly recommend working with glass house, for any project, but definitely for something special like memorial glass as well. Mandy is someone you can trust with such a special piece of art.
Nick and Carlie helped me have an amazing experience. I spent two incredible hours learning and doing while producing a great cup and two beautiful bowls. I recommend this lesson or workshop to anyone interested in learning about glass blowing and shaping. You will definitely enjoy as you learn.
For my 30th birthday I was gifted the 2-hour one on one class. It made an excellent gift since glass blowing is something I've always wanted to try and I enjoy new experiences. I was paired with Mandy and there was another 2-hour one on one class team working along side of us.
The shop was comfortable to move around in. First I was shown safety and allowed to get a feel of how hot it was to be standing near the heat sources. I chose a glass for my first item, the colors I wanted to use and we began. There was a back and fourth on being set up and then instructed on what to do next. When you're handed the blowpipe you are prepared to take the next steps in creating your piece. It's quite beautiful watching the glass melt and form into something new.
It was an excellent experience with talented instructors. Even though it was a gift I feel I really got value for the price!! I'm excited to attend more classes!!
My mother recently passed and my sisters and I really wanted to find a creative way to memorialize her. We originally went with a different company was very disappointed in the result. My sister Jaymie did some research and found Mandy and her work shop. The work Mandy did for us and our mother was phenomenal! The memorial orbs turned out better then I could have imagined. But what makes Mandy's work even more amazing is her customer service. My baby sister had a vision for her orb and the colours she chose did not turn out the way she had pictured. Jaymie reached out to Mandy and was able to work it out without hesitation or judgment. That, coupled with the amazing artwork, makes Mandy and her workshop one in a million. Thank you Mandy for capturing my mother so beautifully!
Mandy was absolutely incredible when making our glass orbs. She took a lot of sadness for our family and created it into something beautiful... we are so grateful. Her talent as an artist and professional demeanour with clients cannot be matched. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a memorial piece
